Your new place has a pre-installed home security system
Many times after you buy a house, you’ll notice that the old owners used a smart home system. All the components function well, are placed in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come out to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a quick visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time transfer cost to make the transfer easier. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your old components with you
You may want to take your favorite smart devices with you to your new home when you move. That’s pretty simple to do, as modern smart devices are wireless. You can remove each device by yourself or contact a Vivint installer to come and dismantle everything. Then an expert will hang the same devices -- and any new things you need -- in your new house. The home security contract will stay the same.
